Date: March, 2013
Venue: Fresno City College, Mainstage
Collaborators: James Knudsen (director), Debra Shapazian (costumes), Jeff Barrett (sound)
My Role: Scenery and Lighting Designer
Description:
Director James Knudsen asked me to create a covered porch/conservatory set that still allowed us to see outside the house. I started breaking apart the walls to achieve his goal, and to underscore the breaking down of traditional concepts of marriage that this 1917 play relates.
“A buoyant production design helps counter the heft of the material. Christopher R. Boltz’s airy, semi-realistic set uses a pleasing palette of soft hues and striped, summery patterns to capture the sun-drenched character of a country-house terrace.” — Donald Monro, Fresno Bee
