Date: October, 2007
Venue: Fresno City College, Main Stage
Collaborators: Brad Myers (director), Debra Shapazian (costumes), Jeff Barrett (sound)
My Role: Scenery and Lighting Designer
Description:
Brad Myers’s production of Craig Lucas’ Reckless was inspired by the action of a perfect life being torn apart and left as merely a shell of its former glory. Each act began with a sunday comic style room, which was promptly ripped to pieces as the main character’s life is ripped to pieces.
“The creativity of the production team, including Christopher R. Boltz’s scenic and lighting design, Debbi Shapazian’s costume and makeup design and Jeff Barrett’s sound design — all of which complement the dynamic student actors — makes this a must-see production for local theater fans. […] The set design is ingenious — low-tech but superbly conceived — and the numerous scene changes so briskly accomplished (and often humorous as well) that it’s almost as if we’re watching mechanized scenery slide in and out, such as at one point when the full cast appears on stage for a talk-show sequence.” — Donald Monro, Fresno City College
